Reserving an Item
If the item you are looking for is unavailable at the Wellesley Free Library or is checked out, you may request it from another Minuteman Library. This can be done in person at the Reference Desk, Information Desk, by phone or online using the My Account feature.
Renewing an Item
When you renew an item you have extended the loan period for a specified amount of time without accruing any late fees. Check the Renewals and Late Fees chart to see what type of material is eligible for renewal. Material can be renewed in person, by phone or online using the My Account feature. Please note that items cannot be renewed when there are outstanding requests for it.

Returning Items
Items may be returned to the Wellesley Libraries or any other Minuteman Library. The bookdrops at the Main Library are open at all times. Items from any Minuteman Library can be returned here. List of Minuteman Member Libraries.
Lost Items
You will be charged the replacement cost as listed in the item record for lost or badly damaged material.
Lost Cards
Please report the loss of a library card as soon as possible as you will be be held responsible for anything checked out until the date the card is reported lost. The cost to replace a lost card is $1.00.
Lost Museum Passes
Please report a lost museum pass immediately, as lost passes can cause a great inconvenience for our staff, users of the passes, and the museums. Our charge for a lost pass is $30.00.

Late fees are charged when items are kept beyond the loan period. This is to encourage prompt return of the item so that someone else may use it. Please note that fees for DVDs and videos are $2.00 per day and the fee for a museum pass is $10.00 per day with a maximum fine of $30.00.

- Senior citizen discount - Fines are $.10 per day for materials that normally have a $.20 per day fine -- no senior discount on other fines.
- Overdue fines are not charged for Sundays and days the library is closed.
- Items overdue 21 days or more, and materials on reserve for another patron cannot be renewed.
- No overdue fine for incomplete video/DVD returned on time
- Extended 6 week loan period upon request.
