  • The Wellesley Free Library Interlibrary loan Department will try to obtain returnable items for libraries in Massachusetts that are assigned to it.  Items we will try to obtain include:
    • Books
    • Audiobooks
    • CDs or Cassettes
    • DVDs or VHS recordings
    • Reels of microfilm
    • Scores
    • Theses or dissertations
    • Other materials that will eventually be returned to the lender
  •  
  • Please check to see if the item you want is available in your local network first. 
  •  
  • If possible, please consider trying your request on the Massachusetts Virtual Catalog before you submit it via Interlibrary loan.
  •  
  • Do not make requests for items that are just published or are extremely popular.
  •  
  • Although we will try to obtain textbooks, they are very difficult to borrow.

  • Use the Interlibrary loan Request Form for Libraries to send in your request.  Please follow the prompts to give Wellesley detailed information about the desired item, your library and your ability to pay any fees involved and cover any return postage required.  the ILL department will choose potential lenders that meet your stated criteria.  Please fell free to contact us will any questions or issues.

  • You will be able to follow the progress of your request within two working days after you submit it.  Click on Check the Status of your ILL items.

  • Please use the Interlibrary Loan Received Form to update Wellesley that you received the item that you were expecting.  If you think something was sent to you in error, please contact the Wellesley ILL Department via telephone or email.

  • Renewals are often possible for ILL items.  Please contact Wellesley to ask for a renewal approximately a week before the due date.
  •  
  • Please use the Interlibrary Loan Return Form to inform Wellesley that you have returned an item to the lender.  Please protect our borrowing privileges by returning items by the due date.  Due dates are set by the lending library and will not necessarily conform to your usual practices.
