What are Downloadable Audiobooks?
Downloadable Audiobooks from NetLibrary and Recorded Books are digital versions of audiobooks that are available through the Internet. Audiobooks can be played on any supporting Windows Media Player version 9.0 or higher.

To Register
Wellesley residents may now set up an e-audio account either from home or at the library's Reference or Information Desks. E-audiobooks may be accessed from your home computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without reservations or overdue fines. To set up an account, click here.

TO DOWNLOAD TO A PC
If you already have an AudioBooks account
- Go to "Click on Download eAudiobooks" button or go to www.netlibrary.com
- Login using username and password
- use basic or advanced search to find title to download
- click on "Download this Audiobook"
- click on "Checkout and Download CD Quality"
once transfer begins, save file to an appropriate folder on your computer
- after transfer is complete, open file and listen on computer -- prompt will appear to "login to NetLibrary" - this is vital to downloading the required license

To Transfer download to a portable device
- Please note that device must be WMA-DRM compatible
- plug player into USB port on Computer
- Locate the file on your personal computer - right click on file and select "Add to Sync List"
- open Windows Media player -- select "File->CDs and Devices->Synchronize"
- choose title under sync list in left window -- choose player in right window
- click on "Start Sync"
- Once transfer is complete, remove player from USB port

To Renew an Audiobook
- Audiobooks are "loaned" for 21 days with a 21 day renewal
- go to www.netlibrary.com
- login to your account
- click on "My Checked Out Items" in top right corner
- Select the title that you wish to renew by clicking on "Download Audiobook"
- select "Renew Your Checkout for 21 days.

To Delete an Audiobook
- go to file with audiobook
- select "File"
- select "Delete"

Please note: NetLibrary Audiobooks cannot be played on either iPods or Microsoft's Zune devices at this time. iPods use the .aac file format which does not support the Digital Rights Managment (DRM) protection required by NetLibrary eAudiobooks. This DRM technology allows checked out items to expire on the due date, a feature that .aac technology does not offer.
Microsoft Zune does not support the Digital Rights Management protection used by NetLibrary that helps ensure the content of our publishing partners is secure, especially when items are checked out from the library's collection and borrowed by a user rather than purchased.
