Wireless Internet Access

Wireless Internet access for your laptop is available throughout the Main Library.  Your laptop must be equipped with a wireless network adaptor.  Most recent models come with this already installed.  If not, they can easily be purchased at any electronics store.  The library does not provide laptops or network cards for public use.  This service is not filtered; however, some email services may not be available.  Printing to the Library's printers is not available from wireless devices. 

Plug-in Internet Access

The Main Library has standard Ethernet RJ-45 data jacks available in study rooms, reading rooms and wherever there is a cluster of comfortable chairs.  Use the lower jack.  Your laptop needs to be equipped with an Ethernet 10/100 Base T Network adaptor.  You will also need a data cable. 

Printing services are not available.  
 

Full Internet Workstations

These workstations provide full, unfiltered Internet access.  They are located in the Reference Department on the second floor of the Main Library, Media Room, center lobby area and Periodicals Room on the first floor. These workstations also provide access to our Online Public Access Catalog and specialized reference databases.  At periods of high demand a one hour time limit may be imposed.  In addition Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are installed on the computers in the Reference Department.  Printing to black and white laser printers is available at $.15 per page.

Catalog Only Computers

These computers provide access to our Online Public Access Catalog and specialized databases.  They are located in the Reference Department on standup desks.  Printing to black and white laster printers is available at $.15 per page

 

Computers for Children

The computers in the Children's Department have Internet access that is filtered for adult content, language and violence.  Microsoft Works is available for word processing.  Printing to black and white laser printers is available at $.15 per page.

Jackie's Room

Jackie's Room is our computer training facility.  Located on the first floor of the Main Library, it was created with a generous donation by a local resident in memory of her daughter.  The room has 12 workstations, plus a workstation for a trainer and an LCD projector.  It is the location for Introductory and Intermediate level classes on using a PC and various popular software applications such as Word and Excel, searching the Internet, and using the Minuteman Library Catalog and Databases.
