WELLESLEY FREE LIBRARY RULES OF CONDUCT
PATRONS SHALL DEMONSTRATE RESPECT FOR OTHER LIBRARY USERS AND STAFF AT ALL TIMES
- The Periodical Room on the First Floor and the entire second floor of the Library are places for quiet study and research.
- Any person who disrupts the orderly operation of the Library or interferes with other patrons may be asked to leave.
- Food or drink is not allowed indoors other than the read lobby (outside the Wakelin Room) with exceptions for events held in accordance with the Meeting Room Policy. Other exceptions may be made for approved functions in designated areas.
- Cellular phones may be used only in the front and rear lobbies. Brief cell phone use is permitted in the Children's Room, Youth Room, Study Rooms and Small Conference Room. Phones must be silenced while you are in the Library and all conversations must be short and at a low volume.
- For their safety, children under age 8 must be supervised by a parent or caregiver at all times. The parent or caregiver is responsible for insuring that the children's conduct complies with the Rules of Conduct.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn in the Library at all times.
- No commercial solicitation is permitted on Library property.
- Patrons are responsible for maintaining the security of any and all personal property they may bring onto Library premises, and the Library assumes no responsibility for the loss, theft, or disappearance of such property.
- Library materials may not be removed from the Library without being checked out at the Circulation Desk.
- Patrons shall not damage or deface Library property or materials. Anyone who does so may be prosecuted.
- Animals are not allowed in the Library with the exception of Assistance animals.
- Patrons are urged to be respectful of staff time. While staff members are eager to answer patron questions and to help with patron requests, they must be able to accommodate all patrons who seek their attention.
