Heroes Garden Celebration Rescheduled to October 14

Rescheduled, due to inclement weather, to:

Friday, October 14 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Fells Branch Garden
308 Weston Road

Join us for a family-friendly event to celebrate the grand opening of the Heroes Garden at the Fells Branch, including including Fire Chief DeLorie story time, Office DiCenso and K9 partner Winnie, treats, everyday heroes and WFL giveaways. All ages are welcome! The Heroes Garden was made possible by the generosity of an anonymous donor, in honor of Wellesley’s heroes, who keep us safe and healthy everyday.

The learn and play Heroes Garden at the Fells Branch Library offers children access to open space with hands-on, open-ended play opportunities.  The design of the garden is inspired by the Library’s mission, as well as by the natural world.  It allows children to experience an outdoor place to gather, encourage imagination and support creativity.  Features and programs encourage all ages to appreciate the world’s natural elements: wind, water, soil, sound and sun.  By collaborating with Department of Public Works and Natural Resources Commission, the garden supports Wellesley’s pollinator corridor and builds understanding and respect for sustainable practices. The garden features a four season fountain, native plants, benches, story time chair, playhouse, outdoor musical instruments and raised garden beds.

We would like to also extend an additional thank you to the Wellesley Free Library Foundation, Wellesley’s Community Preservation Committee, The John and Ann-Mara Lanza Family and the Wellesley Garden Study Club for their support.

Event sponsored by the Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries.
