WordPress is one of the most popular blogging tools on the web, making it easy for anybody to post their ideas, pictures, and audio/video. In this five-part series, we will go through the fundamental roles of WordPress, and cover tips that will get you up and running quickly.


Instructor: Fan Stanbrough is a web and graphic designer with more than fifteen years of experience. After working in an online marketing company in Boston, Fan started her own business called BBDS Design which offers a wide range of web design and marketing services. Installing WordPress and Understanding the Dashboard – August 3, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the first session, you will learn to understand the structure of WordPress, register a free WordPress website, and plan and layout the website.


Getting Started – August 10, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the second session, you will insert a Logo and Slogan; create website pages; insert images and videos to the page; work with the Library; and create a Navigation Bar.


Blogging –  August 17, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the third session, you will write and manage posts; learn the differences among pages, posts and templates; write comments in a way that will avoid spam; and set up and manage a user account.


Site Design – Themes –  August 24, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the fourth session, you will learn how to find, install and customize themes; how to use widgets; how to set up a side menu; how to import and export content; and how to backup your database.


Wrap-Up – August 31, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the fifth and final session, we will wrap up the series by looking at settings; introducing self-hosting WordPress; covering plugins; adding analytics; and discussing SEO optimization and integrating social media sites.
