All Wellesley Libraries will be closed on Friday, June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday.

The Hills Branch Library will close for renovations beginning June 1, 2026, and will reopen in fall 2026.

Wellesley High School Author: Judith E. Harper (1971)

            Judy is an author and historian.  She worked for ten years as a teacher; is a former editor and writer of educational materials; and is the owner and hiking guide of Adirondack Safaris (tourism company), Johnsburg, NY. 

            In addition to many articles, her adult books are: Susan B. Anthony:  A Biographical Companion (ABC-Clio); and Women during the Civil War: An Encyclopedia (Routledge, New York).  Her nonfiction books for young readers are:  Maya Angelou (Child’s World), and Inuit (Smart Apple Media). 

            Judy received the Mary Lily Research Grant from the Sallie Bingham Women’s Center for History and Culture at Duke University for Women During the Civil War.  The book was selected an Outstanding Academic Title by Choice.
