Bienvenido! Herzlich Wilkommen! ようこそ!

Posted on August 28, 2016

“Это отличная книга!” “這是一個偉大的書!” “Bu harika bir kitap!” “What a great book!”

Our robots love to read, but did you know they can speak 19 different languages? They make extensive use of our collection of foreign books to make sure they practice, practice, practice. Do you speak multiple languages? Learn to interact with our robots so you can practice, too, by coming to any of our classes on Choregraphe, an easy “drag and drop” programming application. You can also come to any of our Demo Days to hear our robots speak in a different language or “read” a book! Demo Days and Choregraphe classes begin in September after our robots are officially introduced to the community on September 17th.

In the meantime, though, our two NAO robots still need names! How about Dominique et Devin? Bodie und Brenner? Yoshi and Yuki? Stop by the circulation desk at the Main Library, or at both the Hills and Fells Branches, to submit your names, or visit our online form at #nametherobots. You can suggest names until September 9th, and be sure to attend our welcome party on the 17th to see if your name won!

Many thanks to the Wellesley Free Library Foundation and the guests at the 2016 Foundation Gala who through their generosity made the purchase of the NAO robots possible. While the robots are preparing for their welcome party next month, you can check out the library’s Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter for all things robots!
