The Hills Branch library from across the street.

The historic Hills Branch Library, a Georgian Revival landmark on Washington Street that opened in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will undergo an interior renovation ahead of its 100th anniversary.

Supported by a generous anonymous donation and the Wellesley Free Library Foundation, the project will refresh and enhance the beloved space while honoring its historic character and adapting it for today’s community needs.

The new interior, designed by Richard Eustice of Atlantic House Ltd., will create a welcoming space for reading and study. A grand reopening is planned for Fall 2026.
