For the comfort of our patrons, the Wellesley Free Library allows dry snack/individual portions of food in designated areas of the Library. These spaces are the main level Commons Area (the “Commons”) and in designated, reserved Meeting Rooms (for a fee).
Convenience snacks may be consumed in the Commons and other designated areas, provided that individuals consuming snacks properly dispose of all trash and leave the area clean. Patrons must notify staff if there is a spill that needs attention.
For purposes of this policy, convenience snacks are dry snacks that:
Examples of appropriate foods include small bags of pretzels, granola bars, crackers, apples, or bananas. Patrons may NOT consume hot, aromatic, or potentially messy items including pizza, burgers, fish, French fries, or fast food in the Library.
Beverages must be covered and are allowed in all areas.
Library staff does not oversee food for potential allergens, such as nuts or dairy. Those with severe allergies should be aware that allergens may be present in the Library. Library staff will not accept or assist with any delivery of Door Dash or other food delivery service on behalf of patrons.
Notwithstanding the above, this policy may be subject to exception at the discretion of the Director and/or Board of Library Trustees.
