Museum Passes

About the Museum Passes

Museum passes are made available to Library patrons through the generosity of the Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries and other organizations. The Trustees appreciate and welcome these gifts. As with other gifts donated to the Library, museum passes and their use are governed by the Library Board of Trustees.

Reserving a Museum Pass

Wellesley residents may make advance reservations, online, in person at the Main Library, or by calling 781-235-1610 ext. 1104 (or press 3 during the automated voice menu).  Non-Wellesley residents with a valid library card from any of the member libraries of the Minuteman Library Network may borrow a museum pass on the day of its use provided the pass has not already been reserved for use that day.  In order to allow as many families as possible to enjoy this service, borrowing is limited to one museum pass per family per week during school vacations. Passes may be reserved up to 60 days prior to use.

Limits

Wellesley residents and employees of the Town of Wellesley may reserve one pass per day, up to 60 days in advance.  Other Minuteman patrons may reserve passes on the day of use.

Picking up Passes

Passes may be picked up at the Circulation Desk either the day of use, or the day before the reservation.

Returning Passes

Please note that coupon passes do not need to be returned. Non-coupon passes are due back before 9:00 AM the day following their use. When the library is closed, passes can be returned in the book drop using the envelope provided.

Fines

The late return fine for any museum pass is $10.00 per day with a $30.00 maximum. Fee for a lost pass is $30.00

Cancellations

If you reserve a pass and your plans change, please call us at 781-235-1610 ext. 1104 (or press 3 during the automated voice menu) to cancel, so that the pass can be used by someone else. Please note — Passes do not provide discounts for museum store purchases or parking, nor do they cover any special exhibit fees such as the Science Museum’s Omni Theater, Planetarium or Laser Shows.
