About Volunteering

Volunteering at Wellesley Free Library

Are you looking for a way to support the ongoing mission of the Wellesley Free Library?  Volunteering your time and skill is an excellent way to show your support and make a meaningful difference by enhancing the Library’s programs and services. The Library is usually looking for energetic volunteers to help in a range of on-site roles. If you have a passion for your community and for learning, consider putting your talents to use.

On-Site Roles

There are several volunteer opportunities for people who want to work in the library environment with fellow volunteers and staff.  These roles require the ability to commit to a regular schedule of at least two hours a week for a minimum of 16 weeks.  We also ask that you keep your hours as regular as possible, call when you cannot make it, and provide advance notice of vacations.

Roles at Supporting Organizations

The Library’s continued success depends on the valuable work of our two supporting organizations: The Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries, and The Wellesley Free Library Foundation. If you would like more information on fundraising and awareness initiatives, click on the links.

Training

When you become an on-site volunteer, you will be assigned a Staff Supervisor, who will provide you with training.

How to Apply

New volunteers are asked to fill out a volunteer application and (if over 18) a volunteer CORI. Online forms are located here. Print versions are available in the Administrative Office (second floor of the Main Library).
