The Lightness of Being; Paintings by Marian Dioguardi
'Don't tell me the moonlight is shining. Show me the glint of light off broken glass.' - Anton Chekhov
To touch, feel, hear, taste and see is 'to be' but to experience touching, feeling, hearing, tasting and seeing is 'being'.  The act of painting is a way of being in that 'glint of light'.  The painting becomes that moment realized.  These paintings are painted from feelings as much as they have been painted from seeing. The painting, now parted from the original experience, becomes a new experience in its lightness of being itself.
